LOCATION
We are centrally located in the downtown area of the city and easily accessible by car, train, bus or plane. Trade Winds Bed and Breakfast is housed in a historically certified building that is over 200 years old. It is furnished with art and antiques from around the world. Stroll the many cobblestone streets and alleys or enjoy shopping for antiques, art, and unique gifts. You are within easy walking distance to the Convention Center, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, hospitals, theater, Kimmel Center, Academy of Music, University of the Arts, etc. The Philadelphia Museum of Art and University of Pennsylvania are just a short bus ride away. There are many fine restaurants and shops in the immediate area to suit all tastes and budgets.
ACCOMMODATIONS
All rooms are beautifully furnished with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. We can accommodate your needs, whether you are one person or a group of up to eight people. Three rooms are offered for your consideration. All rooms have coffee makers, small refrigerators, cable television, telephone, and individual air-conditioning. Breakfast food is supplied in the room.
Master Suite:
Grand elegant room with a working fireplace and a queen size canopy bed. Lovely antique furniture and art work complete the decor. The bathroom is located in your room and has a separate bathtub and shower. A fold-up bed can be added if necessary.
Double:
Beautiful romantic room with a 100 yr. old antique brass double bed. The room is very elegantly appointed and has a hand painted mural for your enjoyment. The bathroom is semi-private and separates this room from the twin room on the other side. You enter the bathroom directly from either room.
Twin:
Large lovely room with two twin beds. Artistically furnished with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. A fold-up bed can be added if necessary. The bathroom is semi-private and is shared with the double room. You enter it directly from your room.
RATES AND OTHER INFORMATION
Nightly rates range from $65.00 to $120.00. There is a small added charge for an additional bed. Please note: No credit cards (cash or travelers checks only). Weekly and longer term rates are available upon request. Parking is available at an indoor private parking lot one block away at the rate of $12.00/24 hours. Philadelphia is a “walking city”, so you will not need a car to get around. Most major cultural and historical attractions are within easy walking distance. Taxis are very plentiful and distances are short. Here are approximate rates from common locations to Trade Winds:
Convention Center - 6 block walk - $4.00 cab ride
Airport - Flat rate of $26.00 (up to 3 people) plus tip
Liberty Bell - 8 block walk - $ 4.00 cab ride
Train Station (30th Street) - $8.00 approximate
Bus Station - 6 block walk - $4.10 cab ride
Airport Train to Market East Station - $5.50 then 6 block walk
Your hostess, Marjorie Amrom, has been welcoming Bed and Breakfast guests for over 25 years. She is an interior designer and a world traveler. As a life long resident of the area she is well versed in all aspects of the city. Marjorie will be delighted to act as your “personal concierge” and will do everything possible to make sure that your visit is comfortable and memorable. If you have special requests or needs, please let her know. Space is limited, so please book your reservations as far in advance as possible. Of course, last minute requests are also welcome!
